Scroll down for directions to Terpsicorps Studio, where hoop classes take place. For class descriptions and online registration, visit the Hoop Class Info page.
Directions to classes at Terpsicorps Studio:
(Hoopdancing 101, Intermediate Hoopdance)
Located in the Wedge building, upstairs at 129 Roberts Street, at the corner of Clingman Ave. in Asheville's River Arts District.
PLEASE NOTE: We are NOT located at Terpsicorps Dance Company's main office. (They are located in Pack Square in downtown Asheville.) Our classes are held in the Terpsicorps dance studio which is in a separate location.
Parking Information:
You CAN parallel park on either side of Roberts Street. DO NOT block any artist studio's garage entrances. They will tow you! DO NOT park across the street in the lot of the brick building. They will tow you! Another option is to drive to the end of Roberts Street, take a R and turn R immediately into the gravel parking lot behind the Wedge building. There is PLENTY of parking behind the building near the Wedge Brewery and railroad tracks. If you park back there, walk up the iron steps near the metal sculptures back to Roberts Street.
#129 has YELLOW trim painted around the door. Walk in the door, go up the stairs and enter the left studio door (its big, silver, heavy and slides open). Terpsicorps Studio is at the end of the hall.
What to Wear:
Please wear fitting comfortable clothes, yoga clothes, workout clothes, etc...preferably made of cotton (slippery synthetic clothes are not conducive for hooping!!). The more form fitting the clothes the better it is for hooping. And remember, your hoop loves skin!!!! Baggy clothes can be cumbersome for hooping, less is more! MOST IMPORTANT: Be comfortable! We've found that a tank top and some comfy yoga/exercise pants work best.
HOOPS!
Hoops are provided. Please feel free to bring your own hoop if you have one. Hoops will be for sale! A hoop of your own is STRONGLY recommended! Practice is part of learning and you can't practice if you don't have a hoop! Beginner hoops range in price from $35-40.
